Core'dinations Design Team Call

After another hiatus I am back today with a special post.  Core'dinations is having a design team call and I just couldn't pass up the opportunity to apply!  It gave me the most wonderful excuse to play with my paper stash the last few days.

Here are the projects that their products inspired.  I have kept them clean and simple so that you can see just how awesome their paper is.

A2 Heart Card
One of my favorite paper collections is the Black Magic.  It is black on the top side and there are a variety of colors to choose from on the back.  I had a sheet of red backed paper and knew that hearts was the way to go.  Believe it or not all I had to do to achieve this detailed card was to emboss it. I then used a foam sanding block to expose however much of the red I wanted.

 Embellished Mini Gift Bag
You may not know it but the David Tutera line of crafting products is by Core'dinations too!  He has some pretty great products.  This mini bag is absolutely adorable without any additions but I just couldn't help adding a few more things.
I used the David Tutera A2 card fronts to include a place for a nameplate and at the top I snipped the edge of one of the A2 cards for a nice border.

12x12 Scrapbook Page
This was the simplest of the projects.  All you have to do is rip the edges of the papers and expose the bottom layer!  To frame the family portrait I used some of the Whitewash paper and embossed it.  The flag at the top is distressed on the edges.

A2 Love Card
Again, an embossing folder is all you need to achieve this shabby chic look.  I liked using the Gemstone paper line in the background.  It has a shiny look and contrasts perfectly with the wood letters and whitewashed card front.

National Scrapbooking Day!

I'm back!  After spending the entire day yesterday celebrating National Scrapbooking Day I had to post  my latest creation.  I attended a special "Fiesta" crop with over 80 other scrapbooking enthusiasts and had the time of my life!  During the event I had the opportunity to play with a brand new Grand Calibur  (thanks Diane & Kari!) and a plethora of Spellbinders dies.  I'm not gonna lie, I was in heaven!  I hope you all had your own special celebration, wether it was one or eighty doing what you love is sure worth taking time for!

Halloween Composition Book

I know how common it is for people to alter a composition book but believe it or not this was my first! I had a blast completing this project for Crop Chocolate. This month our challenge was to create a mini album or book. I also wanted to include something unexpected so a couple of slider cards can be found inside each cover.

Now head on over to the Crop Chocolate Blog for details on this project as well as a video on the construction of a slider card.

My Metal Frame Creation

Here is my latest creation for the Crop Chocolate Focus Group Challenge. We had to use some kind of stitching in our project. I went with faux stitching after getting poked by my needle far too many times! I think it still turned out better than what I had envisioned! And next time I will definitely pull out my sewing machine instead of trying to hand stitch.

Based on a Sketch

This month Crop Chocolate Designer Dee Dee has provided us with a sketch. Based on her sketch I decided to create a 12 x12 single page layout. I chose heat embossing as the technique of main focus. Please head on over to the Crop Chocolate Blog to see what ingredients were used to make this project. Also, don't forget to watch the video for some instructions on heat embossing.

A Halloween Tag

Crop Chocolate posed a challenge for the Confectioners this week. We were to make our own embellies for a project of our choosing. This is my first attempt at quilling! I really LOVE the results. And glitter always makes everything look even better in my opinion.

A neat trick when you don't have bling or pearls in the color you desire = use an ink pen to add color!

Any guesses on the wonderful paper used?
